Hi!

My friend wants to buy a laptop. They are concerned about buying something like a centrino 1.6gHz notebook, because it sounds much slower than a 3.0gHz Desktop machine.

I heard that this is not the case. Am I right? WOuld the two CPUs above be comparable in speed?

Any links to data appreciated!

Thanks

Simon

Depends very much on which two CPUs you are comparing. A 3 GHz Celeron is almost twice as fast as a 1.6 GHz Celeron. But a 1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo is waay faster than a 3 GHz Celeron.

I got a chance yesterday to see a few Core 2 Duo laptops - and they're fast no matter what the clock speed is!
