Hi,

I got infected with a bunch of stuff a couple of days ago. Smitfraud,
Smitfraud-C, Toolbar 888 was installed into Internet Explorer, (there
were a few others but I don't remember the names) and I had a bunch of
new icons put on the desktop. I ran Norton Anti-Virus, AdAware, Spybot
Search & Destroy, and Ewido Anti-Malware. They cleaned it all up as
far as I can tell.

My Problem is I still have some leftover files, etc. on my system that
I was wondering about.

After my computer was infected I had Update.exe running in the processes
at starup. It wasn't running before the infection. I did a search for it
and I found a file named Update.exe in the folder

c:\:Program files\Common files\{F084CEF6-0B17-1033-1006-031225030001}\

There was also a file called system.dll in this folder. Ewido caught both
of the files and deleted them but the folder is still there. Can I safely
delete this folder?

There's also an Icon left on my desktop that wasn't there before (the
rest of them were cleaned up by the above programs). It is a yellow triangle
with an exclamation point in it and the caption says "Click Here to Find
and Fix Errors". As far as I can tell it's just some kind of link to a
website not a shortcut to an actual program. Can I just delete this icon?

When I was looking for the Update.exe file I found two other folders

c:\:Program files\Common files\{3084CEF6-0B17-1033-1006-031225030001}\

This folder had a file in it called "888.dll". I'm assuming these are
just left overs from when Spybot cleaned Toolbar 888 from IE. Is it okay
to just delete this folder and these files?

and

c:\:Program files\Common files\kkmq

This folder has a bunch of files in it.

kkmqa.lck
kkmql.lck
kkmqm.lck

and in a sub-Directory called \kkmqd a file named

class-barrel

I checked the properties of these files and they were all created on
the 19th of November (the day my computer was infected). I seem to
remember Ewido catching and deleting something called kkmq but i'm not
sure and I forgot to save a log file. Does anyone know if these need
to be deleted too?

Here's my HiJack This! Log. I noticed a couple of entries in the log
that had (file missing) at the end. Are these leftovers from the stuff I
cleaned up? Is there anything that was missed that needs fixed?

Anyway, any help you can give me is appreciated. Thanks.

- Phillip

Hi,

Sorry about the word wrap thing. Here are the Logs you asked for.

I did noticed one more thing I hadn't noticed earlier. In the
control panel on the Add or Remove Programs Menu I still have an
entry for the 888 Toolbar. Spybot cleaned it out but left this
behind. Any way to get rid of it?

Thanks,
- Phillip

There was a false positive in SpyBot - update your definitions and then see what it says

You may want to print this or save it to notepad as we will go to safe mode.

Fix these with HiJackThis – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {B17523EE-9C0C-B4FF-79E2-B79EFC4105BD} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\chwmcyl.dll (file missing)

DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip or
http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\s?mbols
C:\PROGRA~1\SMANTE~1

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system
