I bought a HP laptop a couple of weeks ago. I deleted a bunch of the stuff that came on it (third party trial offers, games, etc).

I will get whatever info you need, but right now I don't know what you need.

The problem is everytime I start the computer, it tries to "configure the fax", asks for the disc (?), then says it can't find it, tries all that again.

It goes thru the routine twice, I just hit cancel and it goes away.

I don't know where this came from, but I would certainly like to stop this from happening every startup.

What can I do to help you help me?!

Thanks.

Start > control pannel > add/remove programs (clasic view) and uninstall windows components, uncheck Fax and you should be set

Ok, it's doing it again!

The "fax"box is unchecked in the add/remove windows components section. It now still wants to configure the fax on start up.

Thanks for your help DemonSui. Is there something else causing this?

Thanks.
