Go to the device manager and delete the mouse, then reboot and Windows should find and install it.

If the mouse is using a USB adapter and has a PS2 plug under it (or vice versa), try powering off the computer, removing the USB adapter, plugging it into a PS2 port and booting the computer.

If the mouse is wireless try changing the batteries (in the mouse and the receiver)

Download mouse drivers from the manufacturer of the mouse and install them.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
