Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi again. I´m a newbeginner in this forum so I apologize if i´m doing things in the wrong order.
I have run NOD32 antivirus now, it says that I have a version win32/Trojan downloader.Zlob trojan.
I also run Panda on-line antivirus, there it said the name were CRCK_CIDICI.A and TROJAN:ZLOB. I coulden´t remove it, the on-lineconnection keep dying when I´m trying. I also run NoAdware v 4.0, there it says the infection is Trojan.Popuper HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8AED5 RegKey, since it´s a trialprogram I can´t delete anything with it. In the end I also runned SmitfraudFix, the result of that comes here. Hopefully someone with the knowledge and experties can help me.
SmitFraudFix v2.122

Ok, let's continue...

It is a good idea to print off these instructions:
This will be useful as there is a possibility some of the instructions will need to be carried out where internet access is not available.
You may also like to save these instructions in word/notepad to the desktop where they can be easily found for the same reasons as above.
A print out of the instructions would be a good reference to make sure you don't yet lost.
Also, it is important that you complete the instructions in the right order, and also that you don't miss any steps out!
If you have any queries about the process or just general questions, just ask.

Now reboot into Safe Mode.
This can be done tapping the F8 key as soon as you start your computer
You will be brought to a menu where you can choose to boot into safe mode.
Make sure you choose the option without networking support.

Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again.
Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".
The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.
Also post a new Hijackthis log.

David

Hello there,

It is a good idea to print off these instructions:
This will be useful as there is a possibility some of the instructions will need to be carried out where internet access is not available.
You may also like to save these instructions in word/notepad to the desktop where they can be easily found for the same reasons as above.
A print out of the instructions would be a good reference to make sure you don't yet lost.
Also, it is important that you complete the instructions in the right order, and also that you don't miss any steps out!
If you have any queries about the process or just general questions, just ask.

I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time.
The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to create "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause false alarms - When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't. Also it can cause system performance problems; your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Therefore please go to add/remove in the control panel and remove either Symantec or Nod32.
If you remove Symantec please understand you will have to install a new firewall as the mcafee one will have been uninstalled also.

Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{E1E74DF9-A8CE-4D32-B3F6-7999809DD45A}: NameServer = 85.255.116.106,85.255.112.73
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{E79F947D-733E-4782-8913-93B61CE15A85}: NameServer = 85.255.116.106,85.255.112.73
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.106 85.255.112.73
O17 - HKLM\System\CS3\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.106 85.255.112.73
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.106 85.255.112.73

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Go to Control Panel. - If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category. If you are in Classic View, go to the next step .
Double-click the Network Connections icon. Right-click the Local Area Connection icon and select Properties.
Hilight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.
Be sure Obtain DNS server address automatically is selected.
OK your way out. Go to Start > Run and type in cmd Click OK.
This will open a commad prompt.
Type or copy and paste the following line in the command window:
ipconfig /flushdns

Hit Enter
Exit the command window

Please download FixWareout from here:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.

Hello again.
After the last update on AVG Anti-Spyware i could remove Trojan DNS Changer.gp to quarantine and then delete it. I run AVG again and it could´t find it. So god so far. But then i ran NoAdware and got the following resultates. Videocompression HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\MicRegValue. Severe danger.
After this i ran Spyware Doctor and i got this message: Trojan DNS Changers location is in HKLM\SYSTEM\currentControlSet\Services\Tcip\Parameters\Interfa... and one more place.
Also that Trojan Popuper location is in Internet Explorer Favorite and two more places.
Haven´t AVG succeded to remove it clearly, is it still hiding somewhere? I send you one more HijackThislog.
Hopefully this will help you, if not please tell me what to do.

Hey there,

I think we should run AVG antispyware in safe mode and see what we find.
There is a higher deletion sucess rate in safe mode.

Load AVG Anti-Spyware and then click the Update tab at the top.
Under Manual Update click Start update.

Now reboot into Safe Mode.
This can be done tapping the F8 key as soon as you start your computer
You will be brought to a menu where you can choose to boot into safe mode.
Make sure you choose the option without networking support.

Open AVG again and click on the Scanner tab at the top. Click the "Settings" tab and then change the recommended action to Quarantine.
Click Automatically generate report after every scan. Click back to the "Scan" tab and then click on Complete System Scan.
This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared. Ewido will list any infections found on the left hand side.

When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button.
AVG antispyware will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side. Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As".
This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).
Close AVG antispyware and reboot!!
Please post the log in your next reply.

Please perform this online scan: Kaspersky Webscan
1. Read the Requirements and Privacy statement, then select "Accept"
2. A dialogue box will appearing asking "Do you want to install this software?" Name: kavwebscan_unicode.cab
3. Select "Install" to download the ActiveX controls that allows ActiveScan to run.
4. If running MSAS beta you may receive an alert that an IE ActiveX program requires your approval. Click "Allow"
5. When the download is complete it will say ready, click "Next"
6. Select a target to scan: Click on "My Computer"
7. When the scan is complete choose to save the results as "Save as Text"
8. Post the Kaspersky scan results in your next reply, along with a new Hijackthis log.
