My Notebook Sounds Both?

comonly, when plugging in the headphone, the laptop's stereo is mute automatically. however, now mine work both, you know, it was not a big deal, but i wanna know how so.
ps:my soundcard is via-3059 audio controller and my drivers version is 5.10.4050

You can control headphone and speaker volumes separately.

Make sure you are plugging them into the right ports.
