I tried to check gmail and it lets me sign in but that's it.
All I have is a white blank page. At the bottom, it says "Done" but I see nothing at all. Between that and the sign in page, I do see the URL changes like it's somewhere else but nothing shows up.
Any ideas?

Internet Exploder. Is it safe to show the screenshot depicting what is seen in the URL window? Or should I just PM you, or someone with it?

Hi TexasAngel67

I had the same problem , but the browser I was using was Mozilla 1.75.

I cleaned the cache and I could once again get into my gmail account.

Don't know if this would work in Internet Explorer or not.

Cheers

I have the same problem with hotmail. This is crazy. All that has happened lately is my about:blank infection which is now gone. It's been a couple of days now. Any ideas?

The same thing. I get to the sign in page without a problem. I sign in and all I get is that blank page.

Me thinks something is rotten in your IE Browser, especially since you're
having a similar problem with your hot-mail account.

The only problem is... I don't know what the problem is... Nuts....

sorry

Well, to those of you who correspond with me in Gmail, I guess I won't be getting anything until this is cleared up.
Koan, my dear friend, would you please read my thread in "HJT Logs and Analysis" and see what was done? Perhaps that Cleaner or AboutBuster changed some settings. I don't know, I'm lost, too. Geez!
I really appreciate you trying to help. Maybe something will raise a flag with someone soon enough and the other member and I will once again be able to read our emails.

I reviewed your HJT log
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic7113.html#
at Dec 23 2004, 01:39 PM

Okay, I've got them all now. (Your list to stay protected) Except a firewall.
WindowsUpdate.com found 4 items.
IE6 - which, if you remember, will just not work. HJT says I have it, but....
Two for Windows Media Player.
And a security update for VM.
I took the last one only.

I don't understand about the IE6 note you made here. Were there updates that you didn't download?
I sure didn't see anthing that was done in cleaning up your system
that might have initiated this problem - but???

It sure looks to me as though you need to get a fresh download of IE6 -
ensure you clear your cache before hand.
I think something's corrupted in the current copy that you have.

I guess we'll wait for the Pros - 'eh?

Thanks for checking that for me.

About IE6, hmm, where to begin...

I'm not the only one with this problem, it seems. But to research this means to have to go back, I don't know how far, into the HJT Logs and Analysis threads. Or perhaps it wasn't there but somewhere else. Anyway, others with WinME have had the same problem and MS has done NOTHING about it.

Here it goes:
I tried about a year ago to get IE6 when I restored my computer using the recovery disks. This was before I knew about the system restore feature. Anyhow, it would go through the download just fine. Installing is where the troubles began. It would say a dll or two was missing and that it couldn't continue the installation. Then, everytime I would reboot, it would start the installation right away. It was going on and on and on until I couldn't take it anymore. No matter if I chose to install later or continue installing (the options given) upon booting the computer, it was like anarchy. Finally, I went into Startup under msconfig and unchecked it to keep it from happening.
Now, HJT says I have IE6. But IE begs to differ. Help>About Internet Explorer shows I have 5.50. And everytime I go to WindowsUpdate, it always shows IE6 service pack as an option I need to choose and download. But I can't stand to go through that havoc again and ignore it.
I have seen a couple of others with WinME have the same exact problem. But, Grinler, bless his heart, and others couldn't fix it either. So, I don't know what more to say about this really. The thread is here in BC somewhere but I just filled ya in so there's really no need.

So, there ya have it.
Now what? lol
I'll be hacked if IE is corrupt somewhere since I just went through the stupid about:blank infection. I've got something sitting in msconfig (posted that too) that I don't know about. And, I've lost 15% of my system resources as of tonight/this AM as well. I'm about nuts at this point, Koan.

I hope Cryo or Grinler can help.

Did you try to repair IE6? I remember once I couldn't come into Hot Mail, so I used repair function and it came back.
For missing dll's you could visit http://www.dll-files.com/index.shtml and install what you need..
I hope that might help you..

Down in the bayou, Bubba called an attorney and asked, "Is it true they're suin' the cigarette companies for causing people to get cancer?
"Sure is Bubba. But why you asking?"
"Cause what I want to know is, I was thinking, can I sue Budweiser for all them ugly women I've slept with?"

Gosh, Notorious, it's been so long since I messed with IE and I didn't save them. At the time, I did try to get them online. I searched dll sites high and low, Google'd and Yahoo'd on those searches and it all came up to nothing. I desperately tried, though. But that didn't work either. I just figured the flaw was within ME.

IE6 service pack with all the extras and patches are still in Add/Remove Programs and I allowed it to fix and repair. I still need to restart the computer. But, I've tried that a number of times and it didn't work either but we'll see if it fixes hotmail and gmail.

Thanks.
