Hello xsky

Try some of the suggestions here first: "What to Do When XP or 2000 Won't Boot"

By policy Microsoft no longer allows OEM manufactures to include the original XP CD on computers sold with Windows preinstalled. Instead many computers manufactured and sold by OEM vendors come with a factory recovery disk. A recovery disk is a CD-ROM or DVD data disc that contains a complete copy/image of the entire contents of the hard drive that will restore the system to its factory default state at a certain time. Essentially, it will restore the computer to the state it was in when you first purchased it. You will lose all data and have to reinstall all programs that you added afterwards. This includes all security updates from Microsoft and you will need to download/install them again. Before using a factory recovery disk make sure your back up all your data to another source such as a CD or external hard drive.

Did you try any of the suggestions in "What to Do When XP or 2000 Won't Boot"?

Did you get any documentation with your recovery disk? There are so many different vendors and different variations on how these disks work its going to be difficult for anyone to instruct you on how to proceed with it. You could also try contacting the vendor and advise them your having problems using their restore disk. Their tech folks should be able to assist.

all documentation is in the recovery sistem itself...

well...i dont if this help but it is IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore...tht is its name....

ok i just paste some of the document here...if its help....if not..looks like i just need to work it out myself...

well here it goes :-

Restore your hard disk to the factory contents: The Rescue and Recovery workspace enables you to restore the complete contents of your hard disk to the same state as it was when originally shipped from the factory. If you have multiple partitions on your hard disk, in some cases you have the option to restore the factory contents to the C: partition and leave the other partitions intact. Because the Rescue and Recovery workspace operates independently from the Windows operating system, you can restore the factory contents even if you cannot start Windows. For details, see Restoring the factory contents.

there r some other methods as well provided they are :-

restore from backup files -> but i dun have any backups file i think...

Rescue files -> but i dont know which one should i rescue....

hope it can be a little bit easier??

thanks..

hye..editting my post....

cause the recovery system runs independently...i've got this one from the event log tht it has...maybe can come in handy??

I'm not familiar with IBM's recovery method but I found some information about it here

Rescue and Recovery is a one button recovery and restore solution that includes a set of self recovery tools to help users diagnose, get help and recover from a virus or other system crashes quickly, even if the primary operating system will not boot and you are remote from your support team.

IBM also has a flash presentation on their site that may help you with using it.

There is additional information about using their Rescue and Recovery here and if your still having problems try contacting their technical Support Center.
