You can run system restore from the Recovery Console ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449
), or you can perform a repair installation of Windows XP ( http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
FYI - at work we have lot's of problems with the SBC Yahoo software, especially if it's installed along with other antivirus software. I'd suggest completely removing all traces of the Norton before trying to install anything. And, I'd suggest the free AVG over anything like the Yahoo.
