I'm using a sony hd tv for a dual monitor at the moment, and it has a nice built on speaker system. I have a weird cord which is basically double sided...audio input for a computer stereo or headphones or w/e on one side, and the same on another.

I've tried plugging one side into my headphone jack for the tv (it's the only input for the tv for an audio input this size) and my sound card on my computer, with no results. I would like to try the same thing with my stereo system, but I need a larger audio jack or w/e to plug it into the headphone input.

Is this a waste of time, or is there anyway to make this work?

Thanks in advance.

(and if not, wtf is this cord for, does anyone know?)

I have no idea what the heck "a weird cord which is basically double sided" is, much less a "w/e". Fortunately the industry has seen fit to standardize most equipment, in this case all you should need is a stereo RCA connector to 1/8" stereo plug adapter if you have one of the newer sound cards.

You'll have to read the Sony manual to see the specs for the audio hookup - then read the specs for your computer to see if it can supply this (either through standard connections or adapters).

lol I just cut the double headphone wire in half, and connected it to a severed red/white rca audio cord via tape

Works fine.
