Hello,

i dont think its limewire because i havnt downloaded music in a long time

I think it's rather the fact that you are using p2p programs and browsing the Internet without an antivirus and Firewall installed
This is somewhat suicidal in today's digital world.
That's why I want you to install them first!!

Avira, AVG OR Avast OR Active Virus Shield (uncheck the Security Toolbar during install) are good FREE antivirus.
Never install more than one antivirusscanner or firewall on your system! Several together can give problems and decrease the reliability of it seriously!
Agnitum Outpost Free, Comodo OR Kerio are FREE firewalls.

Understanding and using firewalls

Then,

Please download VundoFix.exe to your C:\.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • In case it says that nothing was found, Right click the list box (white box) in the main VundoFix window.
  • Select Add More Files? from the menu that comes up. This will open a new VundoFix window.
  • In the Window: copy and paste next in the first field: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\conile.dll
  • Copy and paste next in the second field: C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp2.tmp.dll
  • Click the Add Files button.
  • Click the "Close Window" button.
  • Click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - <default> - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0676CC61-CDC5-447e-AAFC-9D886EC820EB} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp2.tmp.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {670BDF10-1A4B-41F5-8DC8-BC035A766F57} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\conile.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [PCShield] regsvr32 /s "C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfg_05ef.dll"
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbaredits/...arch.jhtml?p=ZS
O20 - Winlogon Notify: conile - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\conile.dll

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Hi,

Just post the logs I asked you... because it's whith a reason I need these logs.
Don't expect that we can clean all malware/spyware from your system in one step. More steps are always needed.

Hello,

Your Hijackthislog looks clean again though... Are you still having problems?
Do these popups still appear in Internet Explorer?
Also, what popups are you exactly getting? And do they appear on a certain page you visit? Or are these popups present whatever site you open?

Hi,

This all started because you had no antivirus and firewall present previously, so nothing was protecting your computer from malware being installed.

Anyway..

Glad I could help.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.
How to use SpywareBlaster

* Avoid illegal sites, because that's where most malware is present.
* Don't click on links inside popups.
* Don't click on links in spam messages claiming to offer anti-spyware software; because most of these so called removers ARE spyware.
* Download free software only from sites you know and trust. Because a lot of free software can bundle other software, including spyware.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

If you are having XP SP2, read here how to configure Security Features for Internet Explorer:
