Yesterday, my power supply decided to not work anymore, so I replaced it with another. Computer turns on fine, but on the screen that lists my DDR channels I get "CPU is unworkable or has been changed. CPU - SOFT MENU" near the bottom. The computer continues to load, and when I hit the XP profile screen, my graphics are horrible. Logging in and going to display options, I cannot set them any higher. They're stuck at 640 x 480 and 4 bit colors. I'm thinking I may have wired my power supply wrong, but I can't be for certain. I've tried rearranging it and to no avail. Any help is much appreciated.

Well apparently my computer isn't detecting my video card, even though it's plugged in and all. Going to try and fix that.

Graphics cards sometimes have their own power connector. Have you checked that you haven't forgotten to connect such?

Yes I've doubled checked and it's connected, which is weird.

Put the video card in another machine, and it worked fine. Would this be a motherboard issue?

Try resetting your BIOS to defaults (pull the cord from the wall and remove the mobo battery for about 30 minutes).

You can get into XP - so it's probably not that badly corrupted.

Then, if that doesn't work, try to repair XP: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
