Recently my fan has been much louder than usual and doesnt sound like its spinning consistently. Sometimes it will buzz in a pulsating manner thats quite frightening. Ive been having bad performance in conjunction with the fan noise so i did a system restore and things seem to be running smoother but then my fan started making noises again. Right now its not too bad but its as if theres only so much my fan can take before it needs a rest.

Is this definitely a hardware problem or is it possible i have a worm/trojan/virus thats soaking up my resources and making my comp work too hard? That seemed possible before since my resources graph was coasting at 90-100% usage in DIAGNOSTICS mode. I just dont wanna burn out my computer but i also cant not use it either. What can i do and where can i go? Should I turn on the bat signal? Maybe he would know....

The "repair" that I use at work is to blow canned air through it in both directions. This also helps to clear out the rest of the airflow path and decreases overheating (which can also cause this problem) If that doesn't fix it, then it's time to open the case and look inside.

To check for viruses, etc - try this free, online scan: http://safety.live.com/
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
