Hello, this is the first time that I am posting something here. My problem is that my background (wallpaper) does not show up anymore. Instead it looks like there is some kind of serch engine or pop up but everything is white. I really don't know what this is and how I can remove it. I tried to end task but nothing comes up. I really need help.

Thanks,

Right click empty spot on desktop/properties/display properties/desktop/check none/apply/ok

or Start/Control Panel/Display/display properties/desktop/check none/apply/ok

and

Right click empty spot on desktop/properties/display properties/desktop/customize desktop/web tab/uncheck all boxes/ok/apply/ok

or Start/Control Panel/Display/display properties/desktop/customize desktop/web tab/uncheck all boxes/ok/apply/ok

start/settings/control panel/display/desktop tab
click on the customize desktop button
click on the web tab
uncheck file://C:\WINDOWS\Web\desktop.html

Do all of ththe following in SAFE MODE if possible; safe mode - (click on link if "how to" steps needed)
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...src=sec_doc_nam

Then run = Spybot-S&D =http://www.safer-networking.org

and Ad-aware = http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=506

Then install = SpywareBlaster[/b]/SpywareGuard - Freeware = http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

If the above do not solve the problem, then go to the HijackThis section of this forum, and ask a HJT expert for help in posting a HJT log. First See The Preparation Guide found here = http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/34773/preparation-guide-for-use-before-using-malware-removal-tools-and-requesting-help/

Follow ALL of the instructions found there. Then post your system information along with a brief description of the problems you are having, and your HJT log in the HJT forum found here = http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/22/virus-trojan-spyware-and-malware-removal-logs/
