Hi all,

The fan on my fujitsu siemens amilo pro V2030 is expiring. This is the 4th time the problem has occurred. I keep sending the laptop in to fujitsu and it takes a couple of weeks till i get it back, then afer a few months the fan just goes again because they just replace like for like. Is there a 3rd party (preferably silent) fan I can install myself to avoid this annoying failure just being repeated over and over?

Thanks in advance.

Do a search for the term replacement fan for Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2030 and see what you come up with. I'm sure there are other replacement fans for it... then again, it could be that you'd have to get it from Fujitsu because other companies may not have one that will specifically fit that model. It's worth a shot to search.

While you're at it, why not ask Fujitsu as to why the fan keeps going out on you. Not saying they're going to level with you, but I'd ask.

If they don't fix your problem.. just tell them a little story. I do,, especially when my hard-earned money is in their pockets.... tell them...

My uncle, father, aunt,, (whoever) owns a large company that has 100+ of their laptops/desktops on site, and if your problem isn't fixed to where you can operate your business efficiently, you're going to advise (whoever) to not order anymore of their products. You can also say that you're in charge of the purchasing at the company. Be creative in what you tell them,,, but tell them something that they need to hear, if it's indeed their faulty equipment causing you this problem.

Tell them that everytime you have to send it in, it's costing you and your company money, because of your down time, and you have to outsource some of your work.

Now... for the ultimate question I must ask you..... Are you sure you're not constantly dropping your laptop?

lol, i never drop my laptop. I love it (when it works), and im very careful with it. I like the idea of telling a story, i might try that. Im pretty sure they would just replace the same thing again and it would pack up again after a while. Googling for a new fan has failed me already and now is no exception. I was just hoping there might be some other poor unfortunate soul out there who has had the same problem and been more succesful in rectifying it than me!

Its a really flimsy design of fan, the fan is not connected to a motor that drives it, the spindle on the fan is actually part of the motor! Its pathetic, because as soon as it wears a bit if just packs up. Very very poor design, and i have reccomended all my friends buying laptops not to get this one for that very reason. Its infuriating.

Have you tried asking a local repair shop? Maybe they know of a place or have one they can sell or replace it. My laptop does not get used much so I've not had any problem with it so far, so I'm not much help...sorry.
