Hey hayden

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions.

Please could you download the latest version of AVG from here (its free) :http://free.grisoft.com/

Symantec Removal:

You have traces of Symantec products on your computer. Please can you download and run this removal tool to get rid of them.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time. DO NOT UPGRADE TO SP2 AT THIS TIME
  • Click HERE for the update.
  • Apply the update.
  • REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM
  • Post a fresh Hijack This log

Please could you try the Service Pack 1 instructions again - are you experiencing any problems with that?

Hey hayden

Unfortunately the policy at BleepingComputer means I cannot offer further assistance with cleaning your computer whilst you have a pirated version of Windows.

Its very likely the person she bought off installed the pirated version of Windows. I recommend that you purchase a new Windows CD or even ask the person she bought it off for the original Windows CD which they should have used to install it. Without a legitimate version of Windows you cannot receive any updates from Microsoft so your pc is wide open to infection. So I strongly suggest you purchase a legitimate copy of Windows.

Good Luck!
