I have a very annoying problem with Hotmail at the moment preventing me from looking at my emails.

What happens is I type my user name and password, then a blank page loads, and in the grey box(i think its called status bar) at the bottom it says done.

So basically I have these important emails I cant get to.

I've read that other people have had the same problem, but I can never seem to find how they fixed it. and the only solutions I have found didnt work.

These solutions were

Clicking on the Internet Options, then Privacy Tab, then Edit (in 'web sites'), then typing hotmail.com, then clicking 'allow'

If anyone can help me, please do so. I have some very important email I need to read.

Thanks
Luke

Hi,

I am also trying to get to hotmail out of Australia and the same issue of a blank screen after login has been happening to me from the past 3 days (probably from Tuesday 21/12).
I have written twice to Hotmail Help Line but mo answer so far.
I believe it is something at their end as it happens with different computers and different account holder.
Is there a way to get feedback from Hotmail on how long this situation is going to line - I cannot find anywhere any contact number.
Thanks

Is this the link you used to contact Hotmail support?

I just checked and it is working as of this posting.

http://www.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/dasp/ua..._eform&_lang=EN

I guess I'd give it another try ?

(BTW - the only phone number I found was under the Privacy Statement.)

regards,
~Koan

I'm having the same exact problem right now with my gmail account. My hotmail account is okay, though. Odd.

Edited:

Nevermind, I spoke too soon. I can't read hotmail either. Same problem.

Grinler, could it be something that was used to fix my about:blank infection? Maybe something there changed my security settings. Just a thought.

hi, ive seen similar problems over at the forum that i belong to. that computer guy.
one of the users was having trouble with MSN and hotmail. she did this simple procedure and it fixed her problems. all it did was basically repair IE.

start > run > Type REGsvr32.exe softPUB.DLL into the box and press enter

reboot the computer. im not sure if it will apply to all of you but you can give it a shot. after the reboot give hotmail a try...

Hi Grinler, sorry I'm just now getting to this.

Here's the thread.

When you get a chance, let me know what you think. I wasn't told what all was going on, but it is all fixed. And, both Gmail and Hotmail open now without a problem. I was curious though. Those 5 cookies won't delete, even in Safe Mode. Did you happen to see the screenshot? Your thoughts are appreciated.
Here it is, justincase...

Any idea what made hotmail and gmail start working again?

Did you try serebraldamage's suggestion?

I understand that Hotmail have started using Trend micro instead of McAfee as their virus checker. They started using it on 20th December 2004 which is when these login problems seemed to start. I also am unable to access my account. I think we need a response from Microsoft to see if there is any connection.
