When ever I try to defrag my hard drive I get a message that Chkdsk has been scheduled to run before defragging. I am only able to defrag after I have run chkdsk, but it happens again the very next time I try to defrag. I do have one file that will not defrag, and for the life of me I can't find it. Could this be causing the problem? Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Running scandisk (checkdisk) before defragmenting your hard drive is a recommended best practice. If you are going to move files around your hard drive, it is important to make sure the computer has the proper links to them before moving.
If there is a "widow" file or two that cannot be defragged, in the Grand Scheme of Things, I would not worry.
