I am looking into getting a notebook and I want one that you can get online at hotels or cafes with wireless internet. What terms do I need to look for when looking at the hardware? WLAN? or Internal wireless? I would appreciate and help. Thanks!! :flowers:

You should look for something that mentions wireless, WLAN, or some other term that refers to wireless connectivity (such as 802.11b/g, etc).

Also, be aware that you'll need a wired LAN card also - as not all hotels have wireless (found this out in a 5 star hotel in Dallas not to long ago (company paid trip)), but they'll usually have some sort of access.

Thanks for the advice. A wired LAN card, is it easy to find? As you can tell I am not too technically smart about these things. Thanks again!

In most laptops that I've seen they come built in. The key is to look for the RJ-45 jack (a bit bigger than a telephone jack, but similar in shape).

Also, you may want to look to see if it's got a dialup modem also - in case you end up somewhere where you've got to use dialup.
