Hello Whiz Kids,

I notice that in some of my folders there is the occassional file that is sort of ghosted. For example, one ghost file is named ~$diation.doc. The actual file would have been called Mediation.doc.

What are these ghost files? Do I need them? Can I safely delete them? Am I making any sense at all?

Your help would be appreciateed.

Constantine

Hi Constantine, good to see you still around

The ghost file you are talking about is the "temporary" file that word uses while you work on the file. Word basically opens and uses a copy of your original document while you work on it. It does not make any changes to your original file until you tell it to.

The ghost file goes away when you close the Word document.
