When I first got this computer "Windows XP op. system" I installed microsoft streets and trips 2002. Then when I tried running it, it said "Installation of this application has become corrupted. Run setup again to this application from the location where you originally installed it." I looked around trying to get it work and finally just gave up. So today I figured I'd try playing with it again and see if I could get it to work. Still no luck, the same error message appears. I've tried removing it and reinstalling it and reinstalling it without removing it, which specifically says that it will repair files and blah blah but most importantly it says it will repair corrupted files. Yeah right. Since I couldn't get it to work on this compter I tried installing it on another computer "Windows 98" it installed just fine. But since that computer "laptop" isn't very comfortable to work on, I'd rather use it on the XP computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunches.

I would uninstall it again from your computer using add/remove programs. Then go into c:\program files\ and delete the microsoft streets directory if it exists.

Then run regedit and delete any registry keys that match this:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MapPoint
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Automap

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MapPoint
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Automap

Reinstall and try again
