As we know one should be able to hover over the thread subject and have the gist of the problem appear.Well that is not the case for me now. No text is fortcoming. The same happens in other instances like hover over a smile nothing appears. Does anyone know what could have caused this. Not a biggie but would like to have that action back. BTW the problem is not confined to this forum only.

Have you installed any tweaking utilities? They may have disabled this function.

Here's a way to disable them (just reverse it to enable them): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307729 It involves editing the registry.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Thanks but i haven't installed'any tweaking utilities. The link you posted is addressing the baloon on the taskbar. THis problem has nothing to do with that. I can hover over the quicklaunch icons and that is fine. It is just when i go to the forums i visit. Strange thing is that the function works for about a minute immediately after a reboot.

Sorry, thought it was the balloon tips. I presume that you're referring to the little things that popup when you hover over the topics in one of our forums (mine say "This topic was started:........." )

So, it's just web based stuff? In that case, it's most likely an setting or a tweaking utility for your internet stuff.

Since it works for a bit before shutting off, I'd suspect that it was some sort of ad-blocker that's causing this.

FWIW - I don't have these in Internet Explorer, but do have them when using Firefox.
