I was advised to clear out any files marked *.tmp when I did a search
It came up with a lot of files shown as… xDB5B.tmp C:/ WINDOWS / internet Logs 2,080 KB (all showing different numbers and sizes ) , Would it be OK to delete them..? And what are they..?

thanks ............. Mypenry

The better and safer way to delete temp files is as follows:

Click on your "My Computer" icon on the desktop.

Right click on your hard drive and choose "properties"

Click the "Disk Cleanup" button.

When it scans and populates the box, uncheck everything except the temporary files and let it delete the temp files.

Thanks Enthusiast

followed your instructions , and also
downloaded CCleaner and ran it a few times ( on default settings )
but when I did a search after using CCleaner and your advice , I found that *.tmp
items were still there..? ...( xDB5B.tmp C:/ WINDOWS / internet Logs ) a Large full page of them...?

on looking at one of the properties for ... xDB59.tmp

it showed this ....

Type of File...TMP File

Opens with .... Unknown application

Location ....C:\WINDOWS\Internet Logs

Size ...... 2.03 MB (2,129,920 bytes)

Size on Disk.... 2.03 MB (2,129,920 bytes)

the Four boxes at the page bottom ......

Attributes - Read Only - Hidden - Archive

none of them were checked..?

Thanks ............ Mypenry
