I have Windows XP home and Norton AV 2006. I get a "Low disk space" error message every session , when I
switch on my computer. No matter how many programs I remove or how many programs I delete, I run short of disk space in a few days. Earlier I was using Mcaffe AV, but when I ran into this problem I switched to Norton
AV because I read that Mcaffe sometimes writes huge Temp files that eat up a lot of space.Yet the problem continues.I have already removed most of my programs and I dont have any games in my comp either. Please help!

this is the hikack log file. I dont know what to remove:

Hello Archana and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. After reviewing your log I see a few items that we should take care of. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Remove these installed programs using Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel:
  • Click Start.
  • Click Control Panel.
  • Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  • Look in the Currently installed programs box for each program listed below and if it is there:
  • Click on it to select it.
  • Click Change (or Change/Remove) button.
  • If you are prompted to confirm the removal of the program, click Yes.
DownloadWare
PowerStrip

Step #2

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Step #3

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - SOFTWARE - (no file)
O2 - BHO: &Hotbar - {B195B3B3-8A05-11D3-97A4-0004ACA6948E} - D:\Program Files\Hotbar\bin\4.4.6.0\HbHostIE.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: &Hotbar - {B195B3B3-8A05-11D3-97A4-0004ACA6948E} - D:\Program Files\Hotbar\bin\4.4.6.0\HbHostIE.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [T6wJ6nQ] D:\windows\temp\T6wJ6nQ.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [T6wJ6nQ.exe] D:\windows\temp\T6wJ6nQ.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [46429#S258GKTZ] D:\WINDOWS\System32\YubxK.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [REGRUN] C:\arsetup.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sbih] D:\WINDOWS\sbih.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Jawa32] D:\WINDOWS\jawa32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pmr] D:\Program Files\Common Files\Presentia\pmr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [C7clYFj9I] D:\WINDOWS\ybybli.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Desktop Wizard V2.1] C:\Program Files\Desktop Wizard V2.1\dw.exe monitor
O16 - DPF: {00000EF1-0786-4633-87C6-1AA7A44297DA} - http://install.spywarelabs.com/1148040821/WrapperOuter.exe
O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/nocache/funwe...etup1.0.0.8.cab
O16 - DPF: {3E339D3C-4B12-4E8C-A529-9CC4BEEAFD4F} (VacPro.russia_ver3) - http://www.advnt01.com/dialer/russia.CAB

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):D:\Program Files\Hotbar\ <--folder
C:\Program Files\Desktop Wizard V2.1\ <--folder
D:\Program Files\Common Files\Presentia\ <--folder
D:\WINDOWS\sbih.exe
D:\WINDOWS\jawa32.exe
D:\WINDOWS\ybybli.exe
D:\windows\temp\T6wJ6nQ.exe
D:\windows\temp\T6wJ6nQ.exe
D:\WINDOWS\System32\YubxK.exe
C:\arsetup.exe

Step #5

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Step #6

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Bitdefender <<<Add a check by 'Autoclean'.
eTrust <<<'Cure' whatever is found, then delete if unsuccessful
Housecall <<<Put on 'Autoclean' and delete what it can't clean.
Panda ActiveScan <<<Accept default settings
If there are any files that cannot be automatically disinfected or quarantined then you will need to delete them manually.

Step #7

If you do not already have Ad-Aware SE 1.06 then follow these download and setup instructions: Ad-Aware SE Setup. Otherwise, just check for updates.

Start Ad-aware SE, click the Start button and choose Perform Full System Scan. Click the Next button and wait for the scan to complete. If anything was found, right-click on the list and choose Select All and remove all it finds.

Step #8

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
Note: the "XX" in the version will be whatever the latest version is.
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update XX.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_5_0_XX-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Step #9

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.
