I just turned my pc back on from yesterday when it was working fine. It is still working ok, but most of my desktop icons has disappeared. Any ideas?

If you are running XP, try to restore to a check point from the day before, no data is lost this way but you gan take the PC back to the good configuration.
If this fails or you do not have WinXP, try to see if there is a new Profile that got created for you under Documents and settings....

Thanks for your help. I just turned it off again and then back on the next day and all the icons were there. Don't know what happened. Thanks again.
