Chatted with a first time builder (Jay8604) tonight and it reaffirmed my thoughts & experience that so many good things can be done with reasonable assurances of success when you decide to assemble the parts that for the most part are a cut above the ones in use by the manufacturers of complete PCs.

Better warrantees, better choices in exact OS, better videocard options, and you learn more about how they all combine effort to give you powerful features that can only help the software work better.

keyword is better, lol

keep up the good fight to make the PC a custom-yet-standardized & affordable with scalability!!!

GO all you builders.... ask questions & google search the retailers websites for exact specs.

A friend asked me this question yesterday afternoon. And I told him " If you're just going to use the PC as a tool - buy a ready built system. If you want performance or you want the knowledge - build it yourself. The key is the research that you put into it (gigo)"
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
