Hi sevenlayer cookie. Welcome to BC.

What you have done is shut down services essential to the proper running of your machine. svchost.exe is a generic name for services and you may find quite a few running at any one time. In your task manager, anything related to SYSTEM or SERVICES should not be touched unless you know exactly what you are doing - check info in the tabs at the top of any page here.

HiJack This is a diagnostic tool for the use of experts only and I would strongly recommend that you use it only to post to this board if you have a problem. Read about it HERE.

In the meantime, I would suggest that you run a 'system restore' back to before you altered things.
Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. Ok, notice in the log it's "sCvhost.exe" not "sVchost.exe". I'm pretty sure ive gotten rid of the virus, but the taskbar is still gone, and now i cant install anything. In the services, every single service (including Windows Installer) is stopped and wont start. I cant register msiexec either. HELP!

Apologies for misreading. Try this LINK. If that doesn't do the job for you then I would suggest you post a HighJack This log in the proper forum, but it is important that you follow all the steps carefully.

Cheers
