I am running XP Pro, have all updates, but an old epson color stylus 740 printer giving me a lot of problems.Epson sent me an update driver link[generic]. I installed and I could actually print for a couple of days. Then I copied and pasted some text from a website, saved it and when I tried to print, out came numbers, letters, either on the side, or in blocks across the page. Had to manually stop the printer, it was going on and on. This happens in wordpad, notepad, word. Also can't print any graphics. Any suggestions? Portdriver[LPT1] has also been updated. Have no status monitor etc. Printer ran fine with 98/2000.

Please uninstall the printer driver and then uninstall the printer (if needed).

Then, right click on the installer and select Properties and then select the comatibility tab. In the compatibility mode, select Windows 2000 and check all the boxes (this'll select the most generic mode). Then click OK, then double click on the file to install it.
