Hello, I am struggling to try and find a solution to a CWS variant that I appear to to have been infected with. Using IE (I am now on Firefox, as I have less problems with it) my homepage is redirected to about:blank and I am then offered a multitude of pop ups telling me that I have spyware (no, really?) and I must pay huge prices etc.
I have tryed many solutions online, but none have solved the problem. Any help you can give me would be gladly accepted. I am using XP home edition.

It is not a good idea. It will make it more difficult to remove.

REBOOT your computer and post a new hijackthis log please.

From the moment you post your list, until you see a detailed fix written up, DO NOT reboot your system or log off. If you do, the service will have changed and the fix provided will not work.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?
