Just Updating....

My MSN Messenger keeps opening up for some reason.

Norton keeps popping up with the same set of viruses. When you click ok, it just opens it up again.

Heres the list.

With all of these it says that it is a Trojan.Dropper
and says that it is unable to repair the file and that the access to the file is denied.

and it also pops up with adaware occasionally, which I continually remove.

Hi supatyson,


Welcome to the world of file sharing programs. Do you have Limewire by any chance?


Step 1

Please download the Brute Force Uninstaller to your desktop:
http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip

Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All.

Click "Next" and then in the box to choose where to extract the files to, Click "Browse".

Click on the + sign next to "My Computer".

Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is.

Click "Make New Folder" and type in BFU.

Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".

Now RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") to download the AlcanShorty bfu script.

Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

Do not do anything with these yet!


Step 2

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. by restarting your computer and continually tapping F8 until a menu appears.

Highlight Safe Mode and hit enter.

Further instructions on Safe mode can be found here:

Then, please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.

Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by double-clicking BFU.exe

Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon Posted Image and select alcanshorty.bfu.

Press Execute and let the program do itís job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)

Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.

Press exit to terminate the BFU program.


Step 3

Click on Start then Run and type msconfig in the 'Run' box. When the System Configuration Utility opens, click on the 'Startup Tab' and make sure there is a checkmark beside each entry. Ensure the 'General Tab' has the "normal startup" option checked. Restart the machine when prompted.

Once back in normal Windows mode, generate a fresh HijackThis log and post it in your next reply please.
