This is the first time ive used forums so please forgive me if ive done something wrong.

My problem is:

I seem to have a virus, worm or something that is throwing up adverts for Porn or telling me i need to buy & download software to remove it but I know this isnt true.

I want to get into Safe Mode to get rid of the problem but I have a wireless keyboard and mouse.
The pick up for this runs to a USB port.
During startup I press the F8 key to select Safe Mode but it seems that the driver for USB's hasnt been loaded on so it just starts up as normal. If I reboot during start up mode it will get me into the screen but I cant make any selections.

What can I do?

Also, whats the best software for removing all the junk thats causing the pop ups?

Hi Tarzan and Welcome to Bleeping Computer.
First off,we need to know exactly what kind of pop ups/messages you are getting,so the correct removal tools can be applied to get rid of the virus/worm.
To get into safe mode,BC has a tutorial How to Start Windows in Safe Mode.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Hi TMacK,

Thanks for replying so quick,
I checked out the link that helped me get into safe mode and it works! Thank you.

Well I decided I wouldn't use the software I had downloaded to try and remove the virus, instead I thought I could get some advise instead.

So the Viruses / Popups I keep getting are;
1. winfixer keeps coming up telling me I have a virus and i must download it to get rid of the virus. Running norton seems to get rid of it but it always comes back again.

2. A window keeps popping up entitled, Security alert: NetWorm-I.Virus@fp with much the same request as in 1,

3. a) I normally use FireFox as my web browser but recently, when I use internet explorer the home page seems to have changed to another one of the pages that asks me to download a virus removing software.
 Along with this it has frozen me out of the internet options tab in tools.

4. pop ups of porn sites like ifriends keep coming up with pornographic images.

I have downloaded 2 pieces of free software, the first was SpyHunter which I ran and created a log file but it didn't find any problems to deal with. The second is SmitfraudFix which was the software that told me I needed to go into safemode and run it from there (I haven't done this yet).

I would be greatfull for any help as I am totally frustrated and have requested that nobody now uses the computer.

Please Please Help.

Many thanks

In addition to the above Theres another pop up coming up,

Critical system warning!
your system is probably infected with the latest version of spyware.CyberLog-X.
Etc etc

All this started when I tried to download and install a codec for Widows Media player called something like MMMPlayer
