Help!! When i enter control panel/internet options to change my internet properties under the general heading my bleeping computer won't allow any changes. The home portion is "grayed" out and does not allow the cursor to make any changes. What gives? Do i have virus? Should i purchase the latest and greatest anti-virus program? If so i currently run Norton 2003 and would an update to this program help or should i purchase another program.
Thanks,
Nicknite

Hi!

Hold on a second. Its going to be ok lets try another way. You want to change the homepage right?

Are you using internet explorer(IE)?

Or firefox?

Or even mozilla?

Go to the browser open it and hit tools then internet options. You might be able to change it there.

Have you posted a HJT log?

I'm using internet explorer.

When i go to my browser, tools, internet options i receive an error message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on the computer. Please contact you system administrator". I am of course my system administrator and when i contact myself all i get is a dazed and confused look.

Are you on 98? 98 SE?

Sounds just like my old pc!

I have more than once been very mad at stuff like this. Once broke a peice of ym keyboard and then hit the pc and pushed a empty floppy slot in.

But dont get mad!

now i have another new one. I keep getting a pop-up that seems to limit some of my abilities to access phot files. The pop-up says "about:blank - Microsoft Internet Explorer".
Any ideas on what gives?

hey there...

do you have spybot search & destroy installed?

if you start spybot 1.3 and go to the mode menu... switch
to advanced... and then click on the tools item...
and then IE tweaks... and UNCHECK the
"lock IE start page settings against user changes"

hopefully it is this easy... and not something else.

limit some of my abilities to access phot files. The pop-up says "about:blank - Microsoft Internet Explorer"

by phot files im guessing you mean photos? or jpegs?

personally i would not bother with the built-in viewer
for those files... irfanview is a small, fast image viewer
that works really great... i like it lots!

IrfanView download at Download.com

not sure if this would fix your problem...
to be honest i am not sure why it is doing that...
