Promextff.Cool seems to have taken over my Firefox (Win 7) yesterday with the blessing of Panda Dome, my antivirus.  Having searched the net, it is strange is that of the 7 billion people on the planet I am the only one troubled by it.  I ought to feel special but I could do with my PC working again.

I would really appreciate any help.  Thanks

Hello nasdaq

Thank you for your help.  I have done as you say and am attaching 4 files.

1  Malwarebytes

2  AdwCleaner

3  FRST64

4  FRST64 Addition

Sorry but the Malwarebytes scan was done with rootkits disabled.  After quarantining the threats I rescanned with rootkits enabled and there were 0 further threats.

I did not dare clean anything from AdwCleaner or FRST64, please let me know if there is anything obvious I should be deleting.

Thanks again for your sound advice.  According to my Panda scanner there were 0 threats which was not the case.

Hi Again Nasdaq

I have followed your instructions to the letter, am attaching Farbar's Fixlog.txt and also ran AdwCleaner and deleted the PUPs.  I am cautiously pleased to report that, after the cleanup, the computer seems to be working correctly.  Firefox no longer redirects to Promextff.Cool and I can close tabs and the browser as normal rather than have to force it shut through Task Manager.

I cannot thank you enough for your time and expert advice.  Please let me know if I need to do anything else.
