I didn't know whether to put this under internal or external hardware, but I just built a desktop pc 3 days ago and it's been working great. I have four USB 3.0 ports on it but the thing is is that one of the USB 3.0 ports doesnt work fully. It gives power to my Corsair Keyboard and Msi mouse to the LED's on each component, but the keyboard, when typed, wont type actual letters and moving the mouse just does nothing. I know the mouse and keyboard aren't the problem probably because they work fine in any of the other USB ports. Any tips?

In case you want my pc info... https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pMJWhq and my case is the thermaltake g21 tempered glass edition.

Hello chassie,

Looking at the specs for the MB it appears to have three USB 3.1 type A ports and one USB 3.1 type C port the latter of which I have outlined in the attachment below, is it one of these ports to which you refer.

No, the Usb 3.0 port is on the top of my thermaltake g21 tempered glass edition case, it's the one on the furthest left of the top of the case when you are looking at it.

Here lays the confusion, and the reason why the keyboard and mouse will not work in the two USB 3.0 ports on the top of the case, there are only two USB 3.0 ports on the case but there are four USB 3.1 ports on the MB located at the back of the case.

The USB 3,0 port/s connector are/is not compatible with the USB 3.1 headers on your motherboard, have looked online for an appropriate adapter cable but ASUS seem to be the only brand of MB that have actually addressed the issue of coming up with such a cable, see search results here

The thing is, though, both ports are the exact same on top and ONE of them works, which is weird.

If both the keyboard and mouse will work in the USB port to the right but neither will work in the USB port to the left then that would be really weird, the specs of the MB and case being different and the info available suggests that neither of the ports should work.

Yeah I'm not sure, my only thought would be not enough power but that doesn't really make sense, I'll probably try re setting up my usb cable on my MB later, and I'll try and look up solutions.
