i have an extra pc that i used in an office i closed earlier this year...i started to get error messages towards the end of its run in the office like :"low memory, perform a disk cleanup or remove programs", so i removed a few programs and did the disk cleanup but my memory actually continued to evaporate instead of recover. so jumping ahead several months later I fired it back up at the home office and now it says memory space is zero...148 gigs I cant find. so today i did a scan with the built in Windows Defender and immediately an adware file Win32/peapoon showed up. I found Hitmanpro on line on my laptop so i loaded the file onto a thumb drive and opened it from there in the PC. it did a scan and listed an additional 2 malicious files, along with a billion cookies that the disk cleanup never caught, then shut down halfway through...i guess it saw us coming, which didn't really surprise me. for years the malware game was just that, a game of cat and mouse...I used to jump out of my chair with a "touchdown" cheer when the bugs would die...those cheery days are over now. What to do?
