On my Windows XP machine, there is a startup item called "regsvr32 mqrt.dll"

I have no clue what this is and Googling 'regsvr32 mqrt.dll startup' only provides spammy results.

There is nothing telling me if this is a virus or if it should be starting up with Windows XP or not.

You may have see these pages.

If mqrt.dll is located in one of the following reg keys I would be suspicious and post logs in the BC virus removal section. If the file is in C:\Windows then that would be a warning flag too.

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Edit: That process is not running on my XP computer. The file is in C:\Windows\System32
