Restart was definitely faster but connect time for connection to Internet still seems very slow?

Here's the fixlog:

Hmm won't copy/paste?

it essentially says "Restore Point was successfully created".

Just out of curiousity I ran Avast Network Scanner. It's showing Benu Networks, Inc.? My router is a Netgear R8500 and I'm connected through Ethernet directly to my router?

Nevermind, Ethernet wasn't plugged in all the way and I had started using a locally open network for wifi. Solved.

Thank you.

We need to do some troubleshooting. What we are trying to do is identify any 3rd party (non-Microsoft) application(s) that may be causing problems.

Please do this.

===================================================

Troubleshooting in Clean Boot Environment

--------------------
  • Repeat the msconfig steps as before, place a check mark in half of the unchecked items, then reboot your computer
  • If your symptoms reappear, uncheck an item, reboot your computer and see if your symptoms disappear. Repeat the process as necessary
  • If your symptoms do not appear, check an additional item, reboot your computer and see if your symptoms reappear. Repeat the process as necessary
  • Note: It is possible the unchecking and rechecking of items resolves the underlying issue without a particular item being identified as the culprit
  • List the program(s) causing your difficulties in your reply
===================================================

Things I would like to see in your next reply. Please be sure to copy and paste any requested log information unless you are asked to attach it. :thumbsup2:
  • Results?

Read your instructions and was getting ready to start that but Internet is acting the same again. I click on IE the blue ring appears and then it seems to time out and shut itself down (IE), click on it again and it's fine?

Here is one notice I had early on that I'd already unchecked using msconfig that was in the Service tab that I was curious about? %1!s! Update Service Avast

Also in Services these two items seem to auto check themselves if I check any item:

aswbIDSAgent    Avast Software

Avast Antivirus    Avast Software

Please use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove all Avast programs. Then test your computer in Normal Boot.

Bingo Gary :). That appears to have been it? There's still a little bit of lag in the IE starting up but could be the processor? Programs seem to be acting fine and computer is much more responsive now.

One thing still going on I'd like to fix. If I download any programs nothing shows up on the desktop? I'd like programs such as Ccleaner, etc to show up on the desktop. Would it be safe now to install a fresh copy of Avast as the AV program?

Yes, you will be able to reinstall Avast but hold off for just a bit.

Which browser are you using for the downloads?

Had to take the computer back the owner (school). Used IE through duckduckgo to reload Avast. You can close this one out.

Thank you for your help.
