Hello,

I dont know if this is true however it seems like the low to mid end laptops have gotten terrible. I dont know if it has to do with ipads and phones. However it used to be that you could get a solid computer for 300-400. I have been using and acer i3 2,4  4gb and it is horrible.  I dont really do any gaming. Mainly some calculations in excel that are fairly large sometimes, streaming video, open multiple windows and have have a few instances of a platform running. I almost always used dell. However I switched because the specs were better on paper. Is acer just terrible despite the specs seeming good. Given the cost I would like a recommendation for a good performance dell, perhaps refurbished in the 300-400 range.

Yeah. My personal preference is dell because sometimes the acer computers do not performs well as compare to dell and hp.

Yeah cant really go wrong with refurbs as most are very good machines.

But indeed a lot of sub $300 laptops are garbage, there are a few good ones for $400 and above but you have to look.

Thank you. Do you have a preferred place for refurbs? Directly from dell, ebay?

Also for someone more familiar with hardware specs. What is it that makes superior components on an acer work worse than a dell. I mean it is noticeable.

I like Amazon and sometimes wallmart has some nice ones.

If you are near a microcenter that is good too but they dont have a online store physical only.

Agree, I've been using dell for a long time, it's really good.
