This has been discussed in the past but with no definitive answers at the time.

Last night I started doing some work that involved side-by-side File Explorer windows where I was opening content from one, running OCR on it, then saving to the other.  On both windows it seems Windows 10 now wants to self-refresh at some interval of its choosing.  This is very annoying if you're trying to keep your place in a given file list or are trying to rename a file and the refresh occurs while you're in the midst of doing so (the rename gets tossed).

I do not recall ever having experienced this in earlier versions of Windows (or even earlier on in Windows 10) and when I am doing this sort of task this feature is unbelievably annoying.  Is there a way to turn the behavior off entirely or to suspend it for a given File Explorer window or windows?

I am running the very latest build in Version 1803, Build 17134.191

Brian, did you see this workaround?

John,

         No, I had not.

After reading through the thread I am first going to try turning off the Automatically pick an accent color from my background setting and pick a fixed one instead.  I'll move on to making a static background rather than the slideshow if that doesn't work.

As an aside, even though I've seen a lot of really helpful and focused solutions offered by Andre Da Costa on answers.microsoft.com, I often wonder what makes anyone post a generic `answer` [sneer quotes intentional] that seems to indicate the question itself was not read.  It's infuriating (and it also makes topics go on forever when people react with righteous indignation).

I just wanted to report back that turning off Automatically pick an accent color from my background has worked to stop that cyclic refreshing of File Explorer on my machine.

I find it insane that this makes any difference, but apparently it does.
