Hi everyone, I have been getting 0x0000001E, 0x000000a, and 0x00000050 BSODs daily for the past few weeks. It crashes both when the computer is idle and also when I was actively using it. I am using an ASUS laptop P series.

I ran chkdsk and 4k of bad cluster was found. All subsequent checks found nothing. I ran a memory diagnostic on extended mode and found nothing wrong. I even did a SFC /scannow a few times and everything came back peachy. But the daily BSODs continued.

An hour ago I had even wiped my windows partition (F8 to repair settings) and while trying to download windows updates I had another BSOD (the 0x0000050 one).

Sometimes when I had the error in the past, my minidump would say that it was a problem with ntoskrnl.exe (usually) or discache.sys, or ntfs.sys. My latest minidump can be found here:

There was also another file in one of my temp folder that windows also said could "describe the problem:

At this point, I don't know what to do and would love some guidance. Thank you so much!

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

post-33068-0-86653600-1480692866_thumb.j

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

From what I see...your system does not support a 2GB RAM module, yet the Speccy data reflects one.  Per the ASUS specs and Crucial, the system will take a 4GB DDR3-1600 module in its only slot (4GB RAM onboard, non-removeable).  It appears that a 2GB DDR3-12800 module is installed.

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/ASUS/x450ca

https://www.asus.com/Laptops/X450CA/specifications/

If that is a 4GB module and it only reflects being a 2GB module...that could be a problem.

If someone installed a DDR3-12800 module and specs call for DDR3-1600...that possibly could cause problems, IMO.

Total RAM reflected as installed is 6GB.

I see no indication of a problem with the hard drive.

Has anyone installed RAM recently?

Louis

Oh no, I haven't installed any ram. And nobody has touched my computer as far as I know. I purchased the laptop new from newegg in 2014. Interestingly, my invoice says that the laptop is an ASUS P450CA-XH51 (instead of an X450CA quoted by speccy).

My error...I now see that the ASUS P450CA-XH51 is offered by a number of vendors with 6GB RAM.  Please disregard my comments about RAM.

I ran a new chkdsk to see if the bad sectors still show up after I did the repair windows function. Suddenly my bad clusters that were unfixable are gone? I never knew that was possible during a windows repair since previously my computer had just isolated that section and left it alone. I wish I saved a copy so I could compare, but alas. The new chkdsk is below:

I've attached the SysnativeFileCollectionApp zip and I don't quite understand everything that's in it. Sooooo please don't steal my identity.

But my laptop is actually a ASUS P450CA-XH51 despite what speccy says.

Hi -

The bugcheck on the lone dump was 0x50 - invalid memory referenced.

No 3rd party drivers named; likely caused by unknown hardware failure.

Run HDD and RAM diags -

RAM - memtest86+ - run 1 stick at a time; alternate the slots - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/3909-test-ram-memtest86.html

HDD - SeaTools for DOS, LONG test - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/4072-hard-drive-hdd-diagnostics.html

Hiya,

So far I've run the memtest. I took a photo with my phone once it said that it passed. I couldn't find any screwdrivers small enough to access the ram in my laptop so I haven't opened it up yet. But as it is (in the same slot that the manufacturer placed it) it passed so I'm hoping that part is enough.

I need to go out and buy blank CDs before I can do the HD test.

Thanks for helping guys.

You can run Seatools from within Windows as well since yo do not have the media t9 create a bootable disc.

Please Download and Run SeaTools for Windows

1.  Once it starts it will scan for all drives connected to your computer.
2.  Select drive you want to test.
3.  Select the Long Generic Test under the Basic Tests menu
4.  When the test is complete you will see the result under Test Status
5.  The test will indicate either Pass or Fail.
6.  Provide the Results in your reply.

I passed seatool! Does this mean that my computer is fine now? Before it had been crashing when I was working late on my computer (midnight -4am) but I haven't been doing that lately. I haven't had any daytime crashes though. The last time it crashed was when I was running windows update.

Thats good. What about the memtest? That is more likely your issue from the bug check code as mentioned.

Yes, I did pass memtest. So having my memory and my HD passing, can I safely assume that there are no hardware issues?
