Looking for a new large tablet to read my Zinio and other mags on.  That's basically all it has to do.  I have 2 other tablets, Asus and Samsung, Samsung phone, desktop.   I specifically want a large screen to make the reading easy, so 11" or thereabouts.

I'm looking on eBay as usual and I see these Chinese tablets saying Windows 10/Android 5.1.  Surely the thing has to operate on one or the other?  I read all the specs but I'm none the wiser.

Can anyone give me a quick explanation of how these two os can exist on the same piece of hardware?  Pitfalls?

thanks

Hoges

Hi- you might read this article-https://www.cnet.com/news/microsoft-cooks-up-way-to-run-windows-10-on-android-devices/  also this article -https://www.zdnet.com/article/10-reasons-to-buy-a-windows-tablet-for-work-instead-of-an-ipad-or-android-tablet/

Personally, I have an IPAD . They are way cheaper than a Microsoft Surface Pro, if all you want to do is read mags. I would stay away from the CHinese knock-offs. You get what you pay for! Sorry to keep posting links, but you got my curiousity up as well, here's an article about the best Tablets of 2018. I was surprised by the choices-https://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/tablets/windows-8-tablets-release-date-specs-and-prices-916134 !

Thanks for the info.  I can't use Windows to read Zinio - the app doesn't support Windows, needs to be either Android or Apple.

What I am curious to know is how a tablet can be both Windows and Android at the same time.  If there's a "switch" to turn off Windows and make it Android, fine.  At the moment, I don't understand this.

thanks

Hmm, I don't understand how these two OS can exist on the same piece of hardware too. It is also interesting to know the opinion of specialists now. In general, I'm curious where to buy high-quality electronics but do not pay fabulous amounts for it. I will be grateful for the advice.

Could you post the link claiming to have both these OS's on the same device? To the best of my knowledge this cant be done. You either have Android or Windows. There are Android Tablets, but my experience with them has not been very good. Like I said, I use an Apple Ipad for all those types of apps. Android and Windows and Mac are three separate OS's.

I do have a friend who has the Samsung Galaxy Tablet and he loves it. It is rated the 3rd best tablet out there, and it runs on Android. Samsung is a pretty well respected name in electronics. When you start looking at Brands you don't recognize, they are probably cheap Chinese knock offs. I would steer clear of those.

Here is a link to the Samsung Tablet for 139.00 https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-TAB-E-SM-T560-16GB-WI-Fi-9-6-TABLET-BLACK/142511493122?epid=241945590&hash=item212e58d002%3Ag%3A9ckAAOSwFyhaB5Jd%3Asc%3AUSPSPriority%2175218%21US%21-1&_sacat=0&_nkw=android+tablet&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xandroid+tablet.TRS0.TSS0

This is the eBay item - there are plenty of the same there.   Specifically, it's the Win10-Android 5.1 that I just don't understand.  Inquiries to the sellers produce "Dear esteemed client,  thank you for your............"

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12-0-Chuwi-Hi12-Tablet-PC-Win10-Android-5-1-Quad-Core-1-44GHz-4G-64G-5-0MP-IPS/232301945282?hash=item36164661c2%3Ag%3A8E0AAOSwhvFZAp4a&_fsrp=1&_nkw=tablet+-apple&_sacat=0&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313&LH_TitleDesc=0

As I said above, I already have 2 tablets, Asus and Samsung, have had a p.o.s. HP in the past that cost more than it was worth to repair, another previous Samsung Galaxy, two Samsung phones, two desktops and last week I bought a new Galaxy Tab for my wife.

What I want now is a Large Screen tablet, 11" or more, not 9.7 - I have heaps of them.  Since Zinio won't work on a Windows platform, I was curious about these that show two operating systems but I don't know how they work.

Seems illogical to me but then I'm not a techo type.

That's probably what is going on here but I would have thought they'd not actually advertise it as Android if all it is is an app manager?

Well I didn't think it was possible but apparently it is - running Windows 10 on an Android device- here is the how to-https://www.technologysage.com/2016/09/how-to-install-windows-on-android-phone-or-tablet.html  That being said, the tablet you are looking at is a CHinese knock-off and I would run as fast as I can in the opposite direction. But that's just me. It may work fine, but it's from a company I've never heard of,so buyer beware!

Here is the same product from Newegg, whom I trust and they back up what they sell- https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAFFH7385372&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC-_-pla-_-Tablet+PC+-+Tablets-_-9SIAFFH7385372&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnNvaBRCmARIsAOfZq-2FcKRnuECAxqR_VnOzj4MZDxtyYniQCyEuFtDoCR4DywfJJxyOSXYaAhxeEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

So I don't know what to tell you- Newegg sells it cheaper.

If price is not an issue- go with the Apple Ipad Pro. I think I paid 650.00 for it and I'm not sorry I did. And I'm not really an Apple guy. I love my PC's and I have a Mac Mini, but I'm also a musician, and the Ipad is great for reading music in fine detail, and everything else. You get what you pay for-

I'm not brave enough to jump in and pursue one of these.  I was just intrigued about how it could be done.  Can't see it being an error-free environment, eh?
