Some tests to check if the browser has a good privacy setting:

https://browserleaks.com/

https://audiofingerprint.openwpm.com/

https://panopticlick.eff.org/

If I remember correctly my score for the Panopticlick test is 16.25......16.30.

But the most important thing is that there is "partial protection" to the fingerprinting.

I did not understand a lot of the technical stuff , at least 21.18 bits of identifying information were my results and it says that my browser has a unique fingerprint. so I assume that this is not good?

The Panopticlick test should, as each test, be used "cum grano salis".

Your value is the usual one returned.

Much better to check the browser with the other tests and possibly improve.

I suppose one thing which could make me sweat in the near future is when Mozilla finally drops support for Firefox 52 ESR.  As far as I know, there are no other maintained web browsers which work on Windows XP.

I thought Mozilla had dropped support around the time you posted?

Hence the reason that Win10 Enterprise does two things:

1.  Allows a much greater degree and finer granularity of update control for the entity using it than other Win10 versions (except, perhaps, Education).

2.  Has updates running several months behind Home and Pro so that things have a very long time to settle out in environments where Microsoft is not legally exposed to any great degree.

How do you get at Enterprise, though?  I couldn't manage it even going through the manufacturers who usually supply to businesses, which is why I went with Pro in the end.

Chromebook, as mentioned by MadmanRB also looks interesting, depending on ones computer usage, and have posted the below site for a viewpoint-

https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-reasons-chromebooks-perfect-computer-elderly-person/

I'm typing this on my Chromebook.  It's fine for surfing, but does have some restrictions for doing other things:

- the wordprocessing apps are more basic than I need

- ALLEGEDLY you can use it offline.  I haven't dared try it recently, but there was one stage where it would log me out when I was offline, meaning that I needed an internet connection just to get back into my documents.

- it will dump any apps you have installed any time it feels like it.  Just like Win 10, I guess.  I've lost all the great games I had on it, not to mention the sub-Word offline word-processing app.

Finally, as I discovered last year: make sure your device is as new as possible!  Absolutely don't buy an old one, because sooner or later you will get a notification telling you that the device is no longer supported.  No prior warning, nothing.  I'd assumed that you'd just go on using it more or less until the device failed, but this was obviously an incorrect assumption.

I just found out yandex works on windows xp, of course I'm using extensions like Ublock Origin, Decentral Eyes and Script Safe. My main browser is Moon Child

Using Moon CHild+ Extensions,  yandex+Extensions,  Panda/360 antivirus   wahts the chance to get hacked?
