Windows Update was notified it was going to happen.

Subsequently, cant boot - disk removed and plugged in via caddy

Operating system partition is marked as RAW

Is there any chance of reversing this ?

Repair functions don't work

Thanks

You could use Partition Recovery Wizard to convert RAW to NTFS.

Minitools deprecated the Partition Recovery wizard in V10 to only allow you to scan for lost partitions. In order to recover the paid version is required but v9.1 still has the full recovery option. What I do not know is if V9.1 can successfully recover a GPT vs MBR disk partition.

Hi, you have posted this on a number of forums, please keep us informed of other advice you have tried, otherwise it gets very confusing. If you have data on the drive then Testdisk (suggested elsewhere), is probably the best to get it back. If you want to simply reformat the disk for reuse then diskpart can do this for you.

There is no way win 10 update warned you of this , it is simply not possible for an update to do this, something on your computer is amiss, maybe a powersurge (shutdown) during the update install could have corrupted the disk, happened on some machines, (although it effected only external hdd) sometime back, MS issued a fix for the specific problem, should not effect any of the later versions, no instances of this have been reported, recently.
