Good evening,

As the title suggests, my PC seems to be taking longer and longer to shut down.

Is there anyway to see what's bottle-necking this PC on shutdown as I get a niggly feeling it could be something sinister.

What info would you require off me for you guys to diagnose this?

Thanks,

Chris.

Hi, you can modify the registry to force apps to close and to speed up shutdown, do you see any messages about hanging apps?

Try a clean boot first, to eliminate any third party issues, MS have a site on this, however Dc3 has written an excellent guide so open the attached doc.

On the anit-virus, anti-malware, anti-adware side, I would recommend Malwarebytes free https://www.malwarebytes.com/  also recommend running a free scan with Eset online scanner https://www.eset.com/int/home/online-scanner/

Recommend ADW cleaner https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

If your problem is cache or temporary files...I recommend this video.
