after a boot the computer pops up a system shutdown messag. It gives 60 seconds before the comp shuts down. the message in the window are " the system process 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741819. The system will now shutdown and restart.

This is a windowsXP machine. This problem started when it was service pack one and running McAfee Security Center. The first shutdown occured when installing spy sweeper. Since then the comp has been upgraded to service pack 2 and has all current windows updates. Machine has gotten repeated scans with the maliciouse software removal tool, windows defender (beta), spy sweeper, spybot, adaware, and a couple of the ones in the list of things to do before posting. This problem keeps happening. it stopped for about week after service pack 2 was installed but came back. called microsoft and, well, they sucked. The problem seemed to stop when we shutdown all non-essential programs on startup but that kinda left the comp useless. there is more but im not remembering it right now. all those steps listed above did remove a lot of crap but not the thing restarting the comp. Also Mcafee anti-virus seems to have broke right before the problem happened. jsut figure i will list everything.

Hi and welcome to Bleeping Computer! My name is Sam and I will be helping you.

I don't see any signs of malware in your log. This doesn't appear to be a malware related problem. I would suggest starting a new thread in the Windows XP forum.
