Yuor post has me a little confused - is it the Java Runtime Environment or Internet Explorer you are trying to update ?  Any updates for Internet Explorer will come to you via the Windows update system.

Do you actually have a need for the JRE ?  Unless you use it for software developement or have software on your computer that requires it it is generally advised that you should not install it as it is a well known security vulnerability. On top of that, Firefox, and I believe Chrome, no longer support it  or are stopping support in the very near future.

However if you do need it then the best thing to do is to go to the source, Oracle -

It is also possible that the reason your download keeps stopping is that you have the latest version already, this is 'Java 8 Update 171'.

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the latest Java and click the exe. It then opens and closes I.E. over and over. I use Chrome so I guess I wont worry about it.

Try to do a Windows restore to before the date of this update. There should be a restore point immediately before the update was installed.

May I make a suggestion ?  If English is not your first language, and I suspect it isn't, that you type your posts in Word or Notepad and then copy/paste them into Google Translate, then copy/paste your posts here.

I'll assume you have Windows 8.1.

Try running sfc /scannow.

If the scan found problems it could not fix run--

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

And, JAVA isn't really needed anymore.

HTML5 is now used a lot.

edit--- spelling--- succeeds
