If you have an older Mini that has a spinner HD you may want to try what I did for very pleasing results.

Most all of the minis are built basically the same, they have 1G ram and 1.6 Atom processors. My first perk up was upping the ram to 2G, my latest and greatest was pulling the 250G spinner. I had a left over 60G Intel SSD, the SSD’s are the same size as the spinners used in all the minis. My final result was pretty surprising, even though the mini was SATA 300 the SATA 600 worked just fine but obviously at half speed. Boot time though not spectacular it is 5-6 times faster. The splash screen loading bar gives one quick swipe no longer crawling at a snail’s pace.

You can easily Google your model to see how to do it, so pull it out of the drawer dust it off and have some fun and get a usable unit back up and running. Note both small SSD’s and older laptop ram is super cheap, 2g ram and the spinner and it will run like a 6-7 year old lap top all for spit money.
