I am in win server 2012 for the first time and trying to set up the hard drive configuration.  I've got a 4x2TB SATA2 hard drive.  I'd like to set up about 100GB for the OS and the rest to a single d:\ drive.

Below is what I've currently managed.  Originally disk1-disk 4 were all unallocated but I was able to combine and assign them to d:\ but still have the unallocated space on disk0.  I'd like to set it up as RAID10 if I can, but like I said...first time doing this stuff so not quite sure how to proceed.

4x2TB should be roughly 8TB minus the 100GB for the OS on c:\.  That should leave me with at least 7TB of free space (I know there's indexing so it won't be the full 7.9TB), but still how can I get as much as I can?  Suggestions?

What kind of computer is this setup in? Are you using a Raid controller?

No, it doesn't look like I have a RAID controller.

It's a dedicated server so I have root access through remote desktop.

Is setting them up as spanned the best way to go?  I have not heard good things about a spanned setup.

Edit:
Ok, I've gotten things back to their default.  In theory, I should be able to get a d:\ drive with 7354.03 TB of space - disks 1-3 plus the unallocated space from disk0, right?  Can I do this and if so how?  (and when I right click on the unallocated space of disk0, all of those options are grayed out except simple volume)

Sorry for the double post, but looks like at that screenshot I'm right there.

RAID 10 doesn't seem an option and after a few starts and stops with each one of those options (other than simple), I'm going with spanned.  Looks like the formatting will take a really long time but unless someone has a better idea, that seems the way to go.
