where is the best place to download a free version of WinZip?

 

or is it better to just use 7-Zip?

WinZip is not a free app. 7Zip works just as well.

And I'll second that 7-Zip works just as well.  It's what I've been using for many years now.

WinZip should be free for a limited time (free trial, decide before you buy); also probably still easy to learn to use.    I do not know any more since I stopped using it before WinZip went to the ribbon interface.  

 

Alternatives which are free and might be the same as what you want, maybe different interface, PeaZip, 7Zip,  (not sure if another one, too - forgot)
