i AM USING REAPER AND A WINDOWS TEN OS. i HAVE SEVERAL EXTERNAL CONTROLLERS AND WOULD LOVE ANY INPUT TO GET THE BEST PERFORMANCE FOR RECORDING.

Are you experiencing problems with recording? With digital recording, if you are able to achieve the desired result, performance "optimizations" aren't going to make any difference.

There are plenty of suggestions around for audio optimizations, e.g.:

but I take some of such suggestions with a large grain of salt, especially use of system optimizers like AVG. Even Black Viper's system tweaks, respected as his name is, often seem to just be thinking if you gut Windows, it will have to run faster...

If you're struggling to get good results with an under specified system however, then fair enough to try to get the best bang out of it.
